Joakim “Franchise Player” Noah is a French American professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls. He played collegiate basketball for the University of Florida from 2004-2007. Noah was a member of the Gators’ teams that won the 2006 and 2007 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournaments. On June 28, 2007, Noah was selected 9th overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls.

Noah was born in New York City, of French, Swedish, and Cameroonian descent. He was born February 25, 1985 to French singer and former tennis player Yannick Noah, and Cécilia Rodhe, Miss Sweden 1978. In addition, his paternal grandfather Zacharie Noah was a Cameroonian professional soccer player, winner of the Coupe de France in 1961. Noah calls himself “the African Viking.”

He competed on basketball teams for several high schools, first at the United Nations International School (UNIS) in New York City. At UNIS he was coached by Alsonso Shockley, Harry Muniz and David Gartrelle. He reached the championships as the only sophomore on the team. He also played in streetball tournaments and his nickname was “The Noble One” because someone heard that his dad was a pro tennis player. He later transferred to Poly Prep in Brooklyn, New York, where he was coached by Bill McNally, and then to The Lawrenceville School, outside of Princeton, New Jersey.

Yolanda Be Cool is an Australian band made up of Sylvester Martinez and Johnson Peterson. They collaborated with Australian producer DCUP (real name Duncan MacLennan) to release an international single “We No Speak Americano” on the indie Australian label Sweat It Out they founded, sampling on a 1956 hit “Tu vuò fà l’americano” by Renato Carosone and written by Carosone and Nicola “Nisa” Salerno.

“We No Speak Americano” topped the German, Irish, UK, Danish, Dutch, Swedish and Belgian charts so far, and reached the Top 5 in Australia, Spain and Norway. It was also a chart hit in Italy, New Zealand and several other countries. The video was directed by Andy Hylton at Lutimedia.

Prior to the hit, they had collaborated with DCUP when he remixed their hit “Afro Nuts” in 2009.

The band’s name is a reference to a scene in the movie Pulp Fiction, where Samuel Jackson’s character, Jules Winnfield, tells Yolanda, a coffee-shop robber, to be cool. Their track ‘Villalobos for Presidente’ refers to the Pulp Fiction character Esmerelda Villalobos, played by Angela Jones.

Patricia Rooney Mara (born 1985) is an American actress. Her films in 2009 include Dare, and the upcoming The Winning Season and Tanner Hall. In 2010, she appeared in Youth in Revolt and starred in A Nightmare on Elm Street, a remake of the 1984 horror film.

Mara will next be seen in The Social Network, a film by David Fincher about the founding of Facebook. She has also been cast as Lisbeth Salander, the lead in Fincher’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, an English-language remake of the Swedish smash hit film of the same name.

Some industry insiders say there hasn’t been such a frenzied casting search since the two-year hunt for Scarlett O’Hara in “Gone with the Wind” (1939), which propelled Vivien Leigh to stardom.

“There aren’t that many good parts out there these days,” one producer said of the adaptation of the best-selling novel. “Every chick wants to play it.”

But the plum will probably go to an unknown, now that director David Fincher has rejected such name stars as Natalie Portman, who’s almost too old at 29; Ellen Page, 23 (“Juno”), and Carey Mulligan, 25, (“An Education”), who were deemed to be too clean-cut; and Emma Watson, 20, of the “Harry Potter” movies, who denied she cut her hair short to audition for Fincher.

Among those in the running: Rooney Mara, 25, whom Fincher directed in the upcoming “The Social Network;” Léa Seydoux, 25, of “Robin Hood”; and two unknown Australians, Sophie Lowe, 20, and Sarah Snook, age unknown.

The novel by the late Swedish journalist Stieg Larsson has two sequels — “The Girl Who Played With Fire” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest” — and whoever gets the Lisbeth role will be locked in for them, as well. Larsson’s trilogy has sold over 27 million copies in 40 countries.

Sony Pictures and producer Scott Rudin plan to start shooting “Dragon Tattoo” — not to be confused with a 2009 Swedish-language film of the same title — this fall for a December 2011 release. “Fincher will have to make a decision in the next week or two,” said an insider. Daniel Craig has been cast as fearless reporter Mikael Blomquist. Robin Wright will play his sometime lover, magazine editrix Erika Berger. “The whole process is very secretive,” the insider said. “Fincher wants an unknown, but it changes on a daily basis.”

Parker was born in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Her mother was Swedish and her father was a judge and served in the U.S. Army. Parker majored in drama at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She then got her start in a bit part on the soap opera Ryan’s Hope. In the late 1980s, Parker moved to New York, where she got a job measuring feet at ECCO. After a few minor roles, she made her Broadway debut in a 1990 production of Craig Lucas’ Prelude to a Kiss, playing the lead role of Rita. She won the Clarence Derwent Award for her performance and was nominated for a Tony Award. Parker also briefly dated her co-star Timothy Hutton during this time.

That same year, Parker was noticed by critics when she appeared in the movie adaptation of another Lucas play, Longtime Companion, one of the first movies to confront AIDS in the public arena. This role was followed by her appearance in 1991′s Grand Canyon, which also starred Mary McDonnell, Alfre Woodard and Kevin Kline. Parker’s next film was Fried Green Tomatoes, alongside Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Masterson, Kathy Bates and Cicely Tyson.
