Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu best known only as Inna, is a Romanian dance singer.

Inna debuted in 2008 with the album Hot, produced by Play & Win. The main single from the album, the eponymous “Hot”, reached number one in Romania, Portugal, Moldova, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Malta, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, Russia, Hungary, Slovakia , Greece and Ukraine. The second single promoted from the album, “Love”, reached number 16 in Kiss FM’s Fresh Top 40 in its debut week. She was nominated for best singer and best single at the Eska Awards in Poland. Inna also released a single titled “Déjà Vu”, in collaboration with Bob Taylor (aka Fizz), that was a major hit in Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Russia, The Netherlands and Hungary. Her fourth single from her debut album was “Amazing”, which reached number one in Inna’s home country Romania. The video was shot in Portugal.

In 2009, Inna reached the biggest performance of her career to date, as her single “Hot” peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Airplay. The fifth and final single off the debut album was “10 Minutes”, released in June 2010. The video was shot in London, England.

In August 2010, Inna released the song “Sun Is Up”. Directed by Alex Herron, who previously worked with Taio Cruz, Ke$ha and Basshunter, the music video for “Sun Is Up” was shot on August 24, 2010 in Marbella, Spain.

Irina Sharipova is a beauty pageant winner who was Miss Tatarstan 2010 and first runner-up in Miss Russia 2010.

At the national contest for “Miss Tatarstan”, Sharipova entered by accident. On a shopping trip, she came to look at the contestants in the qualifying round and was spotted by the organizers, who picked her out of the crowd and persuaded her to enter. It was Cameron’s first venture to the bottom of Lake Baikal in Siberia, a spokesperson from Russia’s Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal said.

The Canadian-born director went underwater aboard the Mir-1, similar to the mini-submarine he used to make his 1997 epic Titanic when he dived to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean.

Cameron went to a depth of around of 1,300 metres and spent around three-and-a-half hours at the bottom.

“He is delighted,” Inna Krylova, deputy head of the fund, told AFP from the scene.

“He would really like to continue research,” she said, adding that Cameron took soil samples from the lake’s bottom.

Upon resurfacing, the crew opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate the successful dive and the director’s 56th birthday.

World famous for its dramatic beauty, Lake Baikal contains around a fifth of the world’s fresh water and is home to a variety of endemic species such as the omul fish.

The Fund for Protection of Lake Baikal is a group created in 2008 on the initiative of Russian investment bank Metropol to promote conservation of the lake.

Mel Gibson was interviewed by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on Sunday, concerning extortion claims by his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva’s extortion.

Gibson is under investigation for alleged domestic violence. He claims his Russian babymama Grigorieva tried to shake him down over a series of damaging phone recordings, according to Daily News reports.

“We did talk to Mel Gibson on Sunday. It had nothing to do with the domestic violence investigation. It only concerned the allegations of extortion,” Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Daily News on Tuesday.

“He wanted to make formal complaint for the allegations for extortion and provide information to the detectives,” said Steve Whitmore. “Detectives will investigate this wherever it leads,” he added.

The sheriff’s department is also investigating claims by Grigorieva that Gibson abused her during a January confrontation.

The former couple, which split earlier this year, has become embroiled in a bitter battle over recent weeks as they attempt to thrash out custody arrangements for their young daughter, Lucia.

Skating career

Early in her career, she skated with Maxim Kachanov. They competed at the 1994 Goodwill Games and placed 5th. She teamed up with Vladimir Fedorov in 1995. They won the Finlandia Trophy twice and competed on the Grand Prix of Figure Skating. The highlight of their partnership was competing at the 1998 World Figure Skating Championships, where they placed 15th. Their partnership ended in 1999 and Semenovich teamed up with Roman Kostomarov for one season. With Kostomarov, she is the 2000 Russian bronze medalist and competed at both the 2000 European Figure Skating Championships and the 2000 World Figure Skating Championships.

Following the end of that partnership, she briefly paired with Denis Samokhin, placing 4th at the 2001 Russian Championships, but was eventually forced to retire due to injury.

Singing career

Anna is currently vying to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, the contest is hosted in her native country and her city of birth Moscow. Semenovich has earlier released the single “Na Morya” featuring Arash Labaf who is representing Azerbaijan along with Aysel in this years Eurovision.
