Elvis Blue is a South African music teacher and musician best known as one of the Top 14 finalists on the sixth season of the M-Net reality competition Idols, in 2010.
Elvis is married and the father of a girl named Lila. He lives with his family in George. Elvis also teaches underprivileged youngsters how to play guitar – empowering the youth through music.
Elvis’s real name is Jan Hoogendyk, but he adopted the name Elvis Blue as a tribute to an 11-year-old friend of his with the same name who passed away as a result of HIV/Aids complications in 2009.
When Elvis is not spending time strumming on the guitar or at home, you can find him in the ocean, addicted to surfing.
