Chinese-American star Daniel Wu will join in the film “Jian Dang Da Ye”, which will commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Mtime.com reports.

Daniel Wu will play the part of Hu Shi, a widely influential historian and writer in China. The film will depict the Hu Shi as he received a doctorate in philosophy in America and came back to China. He later became a professor at Peking University and also a writer who advocates democracy, science, and freedom while vehemently opposing feudalism. Hu Shi was one of the important figures who promoted the progress of China during that crucial time period.

According to Director Huang Jianxin, his first choice when considering the role of Hu Shi was Daniel Wu, who not only looks like Hu, but also has some similar experiences studying abroad.

The film is scheduled to start shooting on August 18th and hit screens in 2011.
