Michael Douglas has throat tumour

Hollywood star Michael Douglas is fighting throat cancer.

A spokesman for the 65-year-old Oscar winner told People magazine that he is to undergo eight weeks of radiation and chemotherapy.

His doctors expect Douglas to make a full recovery, the spokesman added.

“I am very optimistic,” Douglas said in a brief statement.

Douglas has starred in hits such as Fatal Attraction (1988), Wall Street (1988), War Of The Roses (1990), Basic Instinct (1992) and Traffic (2001).

Later this year he will appear in the Wall Street sequel, Oliver Stone’s Money Never Sleeps.

Douglas has been married since 2000 to Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones. They have two children.

Douglas also has a son, Cameron, from his earlier marriage to Diandra Douglas.

Former "Idol" champ hospitalized after apparent suicide attempt

Fantasia Barrino, the “American Idol” season 3 champ, was hospitalized Monday after overdosing on aspirin and a sleep aid, according to media reports.

“Her injuries are not life threatening. She was dehydrated and exhausted at the time,” her manager Brian Dickens said. “Fantasia is stable now. She will be released from the hospital soon.

The fomer “Idol” champ was immediately taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, California, after the apparent suicide.

The incident comes after Barrino was named in a court filing alleging that she was having an affair with Antwaun Cook, a married man.

Last week, Cook’s wife filed court documents that allege that her husband and Barrino began a “covert adulterous affair” in August 2009 and that the two made a sex tape, which led to the couple’s divorce.

Barrino read the complaint on Monday and though she calls some of the allegations “totally false,” she is “heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.”

Josh Hartnett hospitalized with stomach trouble

Josh Hartnett’s publicist says the 30-year-old actor has been taken to a Los Angeles hospital with gastrointestinal problems. Publicist Susan Patricola said Hartnett was transported by ambulance at 1:45 a.m. Monday to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. She said in a statement that he “is under observation but is resting comfortably.”

Patricola said Hartnett had a flare-up of a gastrointestinal issue that affected him while he was starring in an onstage production of “Rain Man” in London last year.

No other details have been provided.

Hartnett has appeared in the films “Black Hawk Down,” “Sin City,” “40 Days and 40 Nights” and “The Black Dahlia.”

Robin Williams To Undergo Heart Surgery

Robin Williams has postponed the remainder of his comedy tour so he can undergo heart surgery.

Concerns were raised about Williams’ health on Wednesday when he was ordered by doctors to take a week of rest after complaining of shortness of breath.

Reports on today suggested the comedy actor has been admitted to a Miami hospital to undergo tests, prompting his spokesperson to confirm Williams is putting work on hold to be treated for a heart condition.

The representative reveals he will “undergo surgery for an aortic valve replacement.”

A statement from 57-year-old Williams adds, “I’m so touched by everyone’s support and well wishes. This tour has been amazing fun and I can’t wait to get back out on the road after a little tune-up.”

Williams has been on the Broadway-bound 80-city tour since September and has played shows in 11 cities over the past three weeks.

His spokesperson insists he plans to be back onstage in the autumn.
